CT Foodshare is a regional food bank serving the counties of Hartford and Tolland in Connecticut. This organization is the amalgamation of Connecticut’s two largest anti-hunger nonprofits, Connecticut Foodbank and Foodshare. âThe need continues to be great, but we are both proud and ready to serve the entire state as Connecticut Foodshare. It truly is our community⦠and our food bank, âsaid Jason Jakubowski, President and CEO.
According to CT Foodshare, it is estimated that more than 119,000 people are fighting hunger in the Hartford and Tolland areas. They join 200 other food banks across the country as part of the national organization Feeding America. Hunger is more than food. This means Foodshare is also partnering with anti-hunger organizations, policy makers and the wider CT community to develop effective solutions. Working with the food industry, donors, community leaders and volunteers, Foodshare helps maximize access to healthy food and other resources that support food security.
With more than 8,000 volunteers estimated to help fuel the work of Connecticut Foodshare, they provided more than 62,000 hours of service to their volunteer base last year. They also organize many different annual events, including a âMarch Against Hungerâ each May and a âCare Convoyâ in September. With multiple opportunities to volunteer and give, Connecticut Foodshare is a great organization to support this season of giving. Learn more about upcoming events and news.
