Close. Biden Approves Connecticut Disaster Declaration | Connecticut News

(WFSB) – President Joe Biden has said a major disaster exists in Connecticut. He ordered federal aid to aid state, tribal and local efforts in areas affected by the remnants of Hurricane Ida.

Governor Lamont has asked for help for Fairfield County and New London County, as well as the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and the Mohegan Tribal Nation.

In a statement, Governor Lamont said:

“The approval of this statement by President Biden will provide much needed financial assistance to landlords, tenants and business owners in areas that have been severely affected by the flooding caused by this severe storm. I thank President Biden and FEMA for their continued work with our administration to protect Connecticut from damage caused by hazardous weather conditions. “

Grants can be used for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover.

Residents and business owners who have experienced losses in designated areas can start seeking help by registering online at or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY).

The toll-free numbers will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. seven days a week.
