In 1996, after ten years at People’s Bank, Penn Johnson went on his own and launched Stamford Mortgage Company. Under his leadership, the company grew from a one-man business to a team of 18 people, generating more than $ 2 billion in loans and serving more than 4,500 households before it was acquired by the Savings Bank of Danbury. in 2010. Johnson continues to serve as chairman of Stamford Mortgage Company and they have now provided over $ 3 billion in residential mortgages.
